Through the Eyes of an Architect

I have had a lifetime fascination with photography that has been strongly influenced by my career in architecture. This exhibit is a collection of very personal images taken over the past thirty years.

I have been inspired by landscapes from around the world with an eye towards Eastern Washington where I was raised.

Each photograph was spontaneously shot with a hand-held camera. All images exist in their natural form, free of any manipulation.

My focus has always been on the simplicity of the composition. Borrowing the phrase from architect Mies van der Rohe, “less is more.” These images convey a simpler abstraction of nature to its fundamental form. In the emptiness of the space there is a simpler, stronger emergence of line and composition.
